Wishing, and hoping, and praying....

...wasn't good enough for our first open house. I'm going to blame the weather, since we had 30 mph winds, overcast skies and occasional rain. In the 2 hours that our house was "open", we had 4 groups come through. That in and of itself didn't ring my bell, but even worse was that 3 of the groups were nosy neighbors who just wanted to see the inside of our house. Very weird, especially if you knew which of our neighbors came through... yikes.
Oh well. We're new at this, so (and I can only speak for myself here) I'm taking it step by step, and trying not to lose my mind. There are lots of good things still in place. Most importantly, we're in no rush. Clare doesn't start kindergarten until the fall of 2008, and the folks who own the house we like in Roscoe still haven't come down from their insane $50k price jump, so we have some time if that house is supposed to be in the cards for us.
Some positive side effects of all this "house primping" is that the place looks phenomenal every day when we come home, and we're staying on top of our laundry duties and don't have that massive pile in the closet anymore..
Anyway.... our house listing will be in the Home Guide in this Friday's Chicago Tribune (which got sold to a Chicago-based multi-billionaire over the weekend... sucks to work there right now!) Read the story here..
And we also have a broker's open house scheduled for next week when a bunch of real estate agents will be having a catered lunch at our house so they can check it out and subsequently brag about the property to potential buyers.
So here we go with another week. It seems like they're flying by recently.. we're really excited about heading to GR this Friday to see (most) of the family and check out Meg and Brian's new house in EGR.
Hippity hoppity....
